New Starters

On this page we will provide a little bit more information for those families that are new to St James’ Church of England Primary School and Nursery.

Admissions

When you submit an application for your child, if a place can be offered, you will be invited in for a tour of the school with our Head of School. This is an opportunity for you to have a look around the school and ask any questions you may have. You will then be given the paperwork to complete and to provide the following documents to the office:

  • Full Birth Certificate for a child (with Mum’s and Dad’s details)
  • Passport (child’s)
  • Parents’ National Insurance number or NASS number (if you are an asylum seeker)

During this time, you will be provided with an agreed start date.

School Day

The timings of our school day are as follows:

  • Nursery AM:     8:30am to 11:30am
  • Nursery PM:     12:30pm to 3:30pm
  • Reception–Y6:  8:35am to 3:15pm

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for a Universal Free School Meal. Meals need to be booked on the Arbor App in advance.

If you wish, your child can bring their own packed lunch instead. We are a healthy school therefore no sweets, chocolates, fast food, fizzy drinks should be included in a packed lunch. We are also a nut free school; please avoid nuts and products containing nuts, i.e Nutella or Peanut Butter.

Important things to bring – School book bag and a water bottle (no glass bottles or fizzy drinks).

Uniform

Our school uniform is based around our school colours and the school logos, but it is not compulsory to have uniform with the school logo.  Children can wear plain clothing as per our uniform list, which can be found in our FAQ’s section.
